Obituary

Chapin Michael McRee, cherished son, devoted fiancé, loving father, beloved friend, and a creative spirit, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the age of 28.

Born on January 26, 1998, in Charleston, South Carolina, Michael attended South Effingham High School, where he excelled not only academically, graduating with honors but also athletically, proudly representing his school on the track and cross-country teams, making it to state for most of his high school years. He was known for his determination, infectious smile, and joyous spirit earning the nickname "Smiles" during his elementary years and “Happy Chappy” during his college years. His passion for building and creating led Michael to establish his own business, New Age Restoration, where his talents in construction and renovations were unrivaled. Michael's work was a reflection of his personality - creative, meticulous, and always with an aim to bring joy and satisfaction to those around him. Michael was deeply committed to his faith, having been saved at Savannah Christian Church during Easter of 2017. He embodied the teachings of helping others by volunteering with organizations such as Hope for the Forgotten Homeless Ministry, Numerous Hurricane Disaster Relief Efforts, and Samaritan's Purse. He was an avid fan of Auburn football and basketball. Beyond sports, he loved to tinker and build, constantly using his creativity to transform ideas into reality.

Michael is survived by his parents, Courtney and Casey ORear; his beloved fiancé, Kaycie Stewart; his cherished children, Christopher Michael Stewart and Charlie Lynn Carden Stewart; his siblings Grayson ORear and Brooklyn ORear; his loving grandparents, Ray and Janice Burt; and his cousins, Jackson Orr, Carden Orr, Raegan Orr, Harrison McRee, and Camden McRee. He also leaves behind his aunt Christi Burt and uncle Chris McRee (Rachel), as well as a host of extended relatives and friends who adored him.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held at the Grand Lake Club at Southbridge, 815 Southbridge Blvd, Savannah, GA, on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather and share stories, laughter, and love, to honor the remarkable life Michael lived.

In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been established for his children, ensuring that the love, joy, and legacy that Michael built continue to support and nurture his family for years to come.

The arrangements are being handled with care and respect by Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hodgson Memorial Chapel.
