Savannah

Ms. Carol Jeanette Mason, age 83, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, leaving behind a life rich in creativity, devotion, and love.

Born on October 18, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Charles White Adair, Sr., and Velma E. Holifield Adair. She lived a life defined by curiosity and talent, expressing herself as a gifted artist while also building a successful professional career as an accountant and jeweler. Her creative eye and meticulous skill were evident in everything she pursued.

Carol’s professional journey took her from Holy Cross College in South Bend, Indiana, to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she embraced a new chapter as a jeweler. In 2003, she settled in Savannah, Georgia, a place she came to call home. There, she built a close-knit community of loving neighbors who became an essential part of her life. She managed a small shop and worked as a private property manager until her retirement. No matter where life led her, Carol approached each role with dedication, grace, and integrity.

Above all, Carol cherished her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother whose kindness, strength, and quiet wisdom shaped the lives of those around her. She found deep joy in meaningful connections, creative pursuits, and the simple comforts of home—including the companionship of her beloved rescue dog, Rocket.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by the love of her life, Charles J. Roberts, and her brother, Jack P. Adair, and survived by her brother, Charles W. Adair.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Robin Unfricht, Keith Mason, Jacqueline Mason, and Michael Mason; her bonus daughter, Patricia Mason; and her treasured grandchildren, Charlie Unfricht, Andrew Unfricht, Katie Unfricht, and Laylani Mason. Her legacy lives on and is carried forward in stories, memories, and the love she gave so freely to her family and her beloved extended family of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date in St. Joseph, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to GRRR Saves Dogs (grrrsavesdogs.org; information@grrrsavesdogs.org), the rescue organization through which Carol adopted her sweet Rocket—an enduring reflection of her compassion and love for animals.
