Mr. Bobby D. "Bob" Stewart, age 91, of Savannah passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
Mr. Stewart was born on December 4, 1933 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Charles Lamar Stewart and the late Emma Ricks Stewart. Bob joined the navy in 1950 and served aboard the USS Iowa Flagship of the Seventh Fleet. The ship’s duty station was off the North Korean coast for nine months during the Korean War. After returning to Savannah, Bob enrolled in Armstrong College and earned a bachelor’s degree. He was employed by Allstate Insurance Company for 38 years and ultimately acquired his own neighborhood office. He was a longstanding member of Calvary Baptist Temple, and also served on the board of directors of Calvary Day School as well as serving as PTO chairman. He had a great love for the school, and for 20 years he volunteered on the security team for the school and was known by all the children as “Mr. Bob”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kaye Deloach, Iris Simmons, Mary Woodell, and Floyd Stewart.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley R. Stewart; daughter, Teresa Stewart; son, Eric Stewart; grandchildren, Erica Laing (Will) and Jessica Stewart; and great grandchildren, Macy Laing, William Laing, and Tripp Laing. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens (315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA 31404).
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, November 13, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Calvary Baptist Temple (4625 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404).
