Barbara Ann Smith Watson, "Sister" age 91 passed away on August 23, 2026, at Savannah Hospice. She was born on December 14, 1934, a daughter of the late James Frank Smith sr. and Bobbie Elizabeth Jones Smith.

Sister was preceded in death by her husband, Bonner Wayne Watson, her brother James Frank "Buddy" Smith Jr. and her sister Jean Elizabeth Smith Hesling.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Denise Litchfield (Jeff Calver), her son, Michael Wayne Watson. Her granddaughters, Lindsey Michelle Litchfield Alexander, Shirley Lyn Litchfield, Virginia Autumn Watson, Brianna MacEachern, and Kathleen Moeller. Also, Her sister Martha Sue Smith Whitten (Julian). Nieces, Frances Smith Kohan (Rudy), Shayne Rene Olmstead (randy), Regina Sue Hesling Harrelson. Nephews, Reginald B. Hesling III "Skip" (Kimberly Ann) Joseph Marion Smith (Patricia), James Frank Smith III, Edward Lee Whitten (Jan), James Thomas Whitten, Charles Watson (Bonnie) and numerous grand nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved her dearly.

Sister was a lifelong resident of Savannah, Ga. She graduated with honors from Commercial High School. She was an accomplished woman with a fulfilling career in the mortgage and banking field. But the role she cherished the most was that of a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and of course her service to God.

She was active at Calvary Baptist Temple from childhood serving as the 2-3 yr old Sunday school leader for years, as well as an active member of her Women's Mission Union.

"Sister" had numerous talents that included sewing, crocheting, crafts, painting, and woodworking. She was also an avid reader.

After retiring from Wells Fargo Bank, she volunteered with AARP assisting with tax preparation and a brief time doing mortgage brokerage in Richmond Hill.

Sister was a regular member of Calvary Baptist Senior Women's craft group.

She loved travel, dancing, big band music, old hymns and gospel music. She was an enthusiastic Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and Rummikub and loved winning at both.

Sister touched the lives of all who had the honor of knowing her. Her deep faith, her devoted love to family and friends, her unselfish nature, warmth, generous sprit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, strength, and compassion...all were truly the essence of her being.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial donation to Savannah Hospice (Eisenhower Dr.), Calvary Baptist senior ladies craft group or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

There will be a celebration of life in the upcoming weeks.
