Mr. Arthur Lee McAuley, Sr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, in Midway, GA, twelve days before his 96th birthday.

He was the born in Savannah GA, on September 11, 1929, to Eustace and Gladys (Bonfoey) McAuley. He was the youngest of seven children, and the only one of the seven not born in the family home on East 33rd Street. He attended the local schools in Savannah, and later attended Alexander Schools, in Union Mills, NC.

He served in the Georgia Hussars, of the Georgia Army National Guard. The unit was activated in 1950 for the Korean War, and was initially stationed at Fort Bliss, in El Paso, TX for training, and then stationed on the campus of Swarthmore College, in Swarthmore, PA. His sister Mildred was living in Chester, PA at that time, and introduced him to her neighbor & babysitter, Nancy Davis. He married Nancy Gladys Davis on May 24, 1952, in Chester, PA. After returning to Savannah, he worked as the Company Clerk for the Army National Guard Unit for 4 years. He then went to work as an apprentice with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW Local Union #508, became a journeyman electrician, and worked for local electrical contractors on various industrial construction projects for 35 years, retiring in 1992.

At Richmond Hill United Methodist Church he served on the Trustees, worked with the Ways Station Food Pantry, and was especially proud of his work on the Ways Station Food Pantry building. Also, in Richmond Hill, he was an active member of the Richmond Hill Historical Society, and the Richmond Hill Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Davis McAuley, his parents, Eustace & Gladys McAuley, his four sisters, Harriet Adler, Ethel Harper, Mildred Nabatoff, Jane Hogan, and his two brothers Fred McAuley & Eustace McAuley. And his father & mother-in-law, Charles & Gladys Davis.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Linda Davis Benhardt (George) of Warrenton, MO, and Sebring, FL. Additionally, he is survived by his three sons, Arthur Lee McAuley, Jr. (Karen), Steven Charles McAuley, and David Lloyd McAuley. Grandchildren, Kristin Gladys McAuley Achord (Ryan), of Smyrna, GA, SFC Andrew Lee McAuley (Christina), of Hinesville, GA, and Timothy David McAuley, of Collins, GA. Great granddaughters Brooke Wiley Achord, and Chelsea Adalynn Achord, both of Smyrna, GA. He is also, survived by many dear nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He will be cremated, and inurned at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Savannah, GA. A graveside service will be scheduled upon the return of his Grandson, SFC Andrew McAuley, currently deployed to Estonia, with the US Army 3rd Infantry Division.
