Arthur Camarillo “Art” Garza, 75, was born August 16, 1949 to Alberto and Ramona Garza in San Antonio, Texas. He received his early education at Burbank High School and went on to serve 13 years in the United States Army where he received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Career Counsel Badge, Army Achievement Medal, Recruiter Badge, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional and Development Ribbon. He received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Los Angeles Metropolitan College. He worked as a realtor and property manager for many years.
In 1993, Arthur gave his life to Christ and served as usher, Elder and Sunday School Superintendent at Coastal Cathedral Church of God. He later moved his membership to Anchored In Christ Ministries where he served as Elder, Associate Pastor, Sunday School Teacher, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors. He ministered to the homeless at The Old City Mission in Savannah, Ga. Arthur found joy in giving, sharing, expressing his love for his friends and family, and being a missionary for Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Ramona Garza and brother, Albert Garza. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife of 31 years, Denia Watts-Garza, four daughters, Alexis B. Garza and Cheryl D. Lannigan of Savannah, Christina A. Garza of Talladega, AL., Mary Ann Garcia of San Antonio, TX. Three sons; Craig A. Garza of Talladega, AL. David (Rosie) Garza and John A. Garza of San Antonio, TX., One Sister, Emilia Garza of San Antonio, TX. Two brothers, Johnny (Rachel) Garza and Richard (Michele) Garza of San Antonio TX; One Sister-in-law, Alvenia (Julian) Jones-Childers of Savannah; Two Brothers-in-law, Melvin (Flora) Watts and Milton (Carolyn) Robinson of Savannah, 20 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406
