Alexander Bays Anderson, Jr., age 69, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Alex was born July 4, 1956 in Savannah to the late Alexander Bays Anderson, Sr. and the late Annette Horne Anderson. He resided in the Lowcountry all of his life, attending Groves High School where he graduated in 1975. He later attended Savannah Technical College where he graduated as a Master Electrician, honing in his ability to serve his community and fix what others could not. During his career as an electrician, he was employed by St. Joseph's/Candler "Thomas F. Williams Court" where he retired in 2023.
Alex found peace in the outdoors spending his time hunting, gardening, and most of all, fishing whenever and wherever the opportunity presented itself. He always kept busy with his hands. Alex was a gifted cook and master smoker. Smoking meats for his friends and family, he could make anything taste good. He even sometimes sold his BBQ, selling out faster than he could smoke it. Alex stood for many things, but most importantly he stood for his love of God, family, and country. He was a true patriot, and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his country as well as his community. He was outgoing, larger than life, and never stopped smiling. He will be deeply missed by all.
Alex is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Karen Anderson; sons, Alexander Bays "Trae" Anderson, III, Taylor Alexander Anderson, Luke Joseph Jeffers and Morgan Drew Jeffers; brother, Jack Earl Anderson (Marie); sisters, Lynn Lester (Ken), Helen Arrington (Tom) and Judith Parsons; three grandchildren, Alexander Bays Anderson, IV, Asher Noah Anderson, and Freyja Anderson; and brother-in-law, Kevin Gordon Craig and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).
The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org)."
