Shirley Waters-Hallman

August 23, 1946 - October 7, 2020

Shirley Waters-Hallman passed away peacefully on October 7, 2020 at the age of 74. Shirley was born in Vidalia, Georgia on August 23,1946 to WJ and Madelyn Wilkes, but her family moved to Savannah, Georgia when she was 4 years old and she lived most of her life in Savannah. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by husbands, John V. Waters, Sr. and Jimmy Vinson. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Howard O’neal Hallman; children, Barbara Waters Pochet, John V. Waters, Jr., Renee Hallman Branan (Mike), all of Savannah, Georgia; John Hallman (Shelley) of Bloomingdale, Georgia; Angela Hallman Crawford (Beal) of Savannah, Georgia. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Zachary, Bailey, Megan, Colin, Caroline, Kaelyn, and Sarah Kate. She was also a Mom to many others. Shirley retired from Hotel Management with her last positions being General Manager for Dixon Properties, Inc. She had been volunteering with the USO, holding various positions including a member of the Board of Directors and Volunteer Director of USO’s Savannah Chapter until failing health forced her to retire. Shirley loved God, Family, Friends, and especially the USO Volunteers. Her biggest love was to travel. She was an active member of Chevis Oaks Baptist Church. She dearly loved her grandchildren and especially enjoyed hearing them sing in church. The family wishes to thank Hospice Savannah for their excellent care during the past month. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 PM at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, Georgia 31406 Burial will be private. All CDC guidelines will be in place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Savannah 1352 Eisenhower Drive Savannah, Georgia 31406
