Jolene Beth Frutiger Seese

April 6, 1933 - February 9, 2022

Jolene Beth Frutiger Seese, 88, of Savannah, GA, passed away February 9, 2022, at Hospice Savannah. Jolene was born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 6, 1933. She grew up in Smith Center, Kansas and remained connected with friends there, including her life-long best friend, Darlene Laffere. Jolene was dedicated to serving others and began her career in the medical community at fourteen years old as a candy striper at the local hospital in Smith Center. After nursing school, Jolene moved to Charleston, SC and began her career as a registered nurse. Later moving to Savannah, Jolene spent the majority of her career at Memorial Medical Center, fine-tuning her passionate nursing skills as an innovative wound therapist. She nursed until age 79, spending her final nursing years at Urological Associates of Savannah. Jolene and her second husband, Tom Gebel Seese, Jr. enjoyed sailing, gardening and birding. After retirement, Jolene spent time cheering for her favorite sports teams, keeping up with friends, loving her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and keeping her house amazingly clean. She was a generous supporter of the Peoples Heartland Foundation (she contributed to the restoration and saving of the cabin where the Home on the Range song was written 150 years ago). Jolene was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Gebel Seese, Jr.; son, Joel Edward Ike; and parents, Lesley and Eva Frutiger. Jolene is survived by her daughter, Laura Ike; stepchildren Debra Seese, Lynn Seese Weis (Bill) and Gebel Seese (Ruthie); grandchildren, Claire Ike (Travis Hale), Kathryn Ike Pritz (Nate), and Joel Patrick Begley; great-grandchild Raleigh Ike Pritz; her daughter-in-law, Becky Ike; sister, Judy Christon; and her former husband, Edward Ike. Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 19, from 10 AM until 12 PM at Hubert Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah. Final ceremony will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire or Peoples Heartland Foundation will be appreciated.
