Joe Earl Cantrell

June 5, 1962 - February 20, 2022

Joe Earl Cantrell was born at Hunter Air Force Base (before becoming an army airfield) in 1962. God was having a particularly good day when he gave Lawrence Dallas and Rachel Wofford Cantrell their new baby boy. He grew up tall, slender, handsome, sweet, kind, caring, humble, and loved all of God's creatures. He joined the Air Force fresh out of high school and retired as a Tech Sergeant. He saw the world including Holland, Turkey, and was a Desert Storm Veteran. At the age of 38 he went to work for the Hendrix Family at Hendrix Machinery on Dean Forest Rd. The Hendrix became another family for Joe. It was here that Dale Hendrix Sr. got his "Best Man" Joe to show their client Mary Barbee how to use a new piece of machinery. She became his second wife and loves him with every inch of her being. He was an avid marksman, remote control plane and drone operator, and the best husband and friend in the world. He is survived by his wife of 11 years Mary Barbee Cantrell; sister ,Carmen Smith (Jay); brother, Larry Cantrell (Cynthia); Uncle Darryl Cantrell (Jackie); brother- in- law " but more a brother", Alan Ralph Baker husband of Mary's late sister, Joyce; Joe Bennet ( Fiancé of Mary's sister the late Margaret Barbee); many nieces and nephews; Aunt Shirley Wallace, Dear friends, Norma and Derek Cribbs, Delbert White, The Chatham Emergency Service Heroes including: Chuck, Tameka, Wayne, Benji, and others to numerous to mention. A special thanks to Dr. Steve Malone and his wife, who was such good friends. Also Dr. Charlie Duckworth and the caring folks at Memorial Health. God Bless you all. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday February 23, 2022 at 11 am at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Larry Cantrell officiating. The family has entrusted Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Garden City Chapel with arrangements. Baker McCullough 2794 US HWY 80 W Garden City, GA 31408 912-964-2682
