Gordon “Jack” Garner III, 75, passed away February 23, 2019.
Gordon was born December 19, 1943 in Princeton, West Virginia to Emily Jane and Gordon Garner JR. And spent most of his life in Atlanta and Savannah. He was raised in the Catholic faith.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era. After leaving the military he became a police officer and served in numerous Police Departments. He spent most of his law enforcement career in Savannah as well as Atlanta, where he achieved the rank of SGT as a detective. He retired from police work in 1996. After, retirement he served as a volunteer for Hospice where he found great joy in working with other retired police officers.
Survivors include three sons, Gordon Garner IV (Tina) of Macon, GA; Mark M. Garner (Adair) of Chattanooga, TN; and Jackson T. Garner of Washington D.C. , two brothers, Thomas B. Garner of SC and Eric Norton of OH; a sister, Kim Towles of Savannah, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 200 Club of the Coastal Empire.
Funeral Services will be held at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA Monday March 4, 2019 at 3PM
